I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about psychic energy and how it is impacting us during these tumultuous days. I thought it might be helpful to provide you, my friends and clients, some insight that might help you right now.
First let me clearly describe what psychic energy is… this subtle, often unseen force flows through individuals and environments, affecting our emotional, mental, and spiritual states. Influenced by thoughts, emotions, and everyone whose voice and energy are loud right now, we often describe it as a “vibe” or a “feeling.” Right now, the vibe is high.
When psychic energy feels intense, and our nervous systems are on high alert, it can be challenging to focus on everyday tasks, let alone help family members find calm. Taking steps to regulate our nervous system can benefit not only our well-being but also those around us, creating a ripple effect of peace.
You can start regulating with grounding exercises, like deep, rhythmic breathing or visualizing roots growing from your feet into the earth. These two easy practices can help calm the mind and bring you back to the present moment.
Maintaining consistent routines can also be a strong anchor during chaotic times. Familiar actions like preparing meals together or sticking to a bedtime ritual signal safety to our nervous systems, creating stability when there is heightened energy. Try integrating mindfulness into these routines; for example, take a moment before meals to breathe together as an individual or a family. Another routine can be speaking words of gratitude out loud.
If family members, especially children, seem dysregulated, invite them into co-regulation activities. Engage in calming exercises together, such as gentle stretching or breathing to a slow, calming rhythm. Remember, children naturally look to adults for cues on how to handle intense emotions. By prioritizing your own regulation, you can model healthy ways to navigate stress.
Finally, give yourself grace. The energetic intensity around us may feel overwhelming, but by cultivating small, consistent moments of grounding and mindfulness, we can strengthen our resilience and guide our loved ones toward inner balance.
Love,
Donna
